Scrip - How it works
Each family is responsible for purchasing Scrip throughout the year. Scrip is exchanging cash for credit of equal value that is then spent at the vendor marked on the scrip card or certificate. As a benefit for using scrip the vendor agrees to give back a percentage of the purchase to the school. There is a comprehensive list of vendors at our online scrip site: Great Lake Scrip Center (http://www.glscrip.com/).
Scrip is a major fundraiser for our school and helps keep our tuition costs down. Each family must purchase enough scrip to earn $350 in VENDOR CONTRIBUTION. So if you buy $100 worth of scrip and the vendor offers an 8% discount, the school receives $8.00 which then leaves your balance due for scrip donation at $342. It is in your best interest to purchase and use scrip from the vendors who offer the highest discount. If you consistently use scrip for groceries, gas, and gifts that $350 obligation is easily met.
You may also opt out of Scrip and just pay $350.
