Viking Kingdom Extended Care
Purpose and Philosophy
It is the purpose of the OLG Extension Program to provide a safe and secure environment for the children of our school during out-of-school hours. The philosophy of the program incorporates that of OLG School and includes providing a child care environment where Christian principles are foremost and where the social and personal needs of the children of working married or single parents are met and nurtured.
Admission Policy The OLG Extension Program is open to any regularly enrolled student of OLG School, grades K-8.
Programs: Extended Care Program: The Extended Care Program is balanced with time for indoor and outdoor play, group crafts, individual activities and snack breaks.
Homework
A study period will be conducted daily except Fridays. Students will be in a supervised setting with students of similar age. Staff members will make every attempt to assist your child with questions they may have regarding assignments, but the ultimate responsibility lies with the parents. If a student does not have any homework, silent reading or an activity from the “Extended Care Activity File” will be an option.
Lunch and Snacks One snack will be provided for the students during the after-school program. If parents feel more comfortable providing their own snacks after school for their child(ren), please inform the extended care staff that the child(ren) is not to have the food provided.
On early dismissal days, students must bring their own lunches. Extended care does not provide lunch and there are no facilities to heat or refrigerate lunches.
