CAR POOL REMINDERS AND TRAFFIC TIPS!
We want to remind you that the safety of YOUR children is always a top priority here at Our Lady of Guadalupe School. Our staff and teachers are vigilant in their duties, particularly those on traffic duty in the mornings and afternoons. You can help keep the children safe and the car pool lines flowing smoothly by your polite cooperation. A map is below to remind you of the acceptable routes in and out of the grounds. It has been noted that the following can impact both student safety and traffic flow. Please…
· Pull forward completely when dropping off or picking up! Do not stop in front of a particular classroom no matter what grade your child is in.
· Never pass a stopped vehicle to move up in line! A few moments of patience could save the life and limb of a child!
· Never use a cell phone while in our traffic pattern.
· Teach your child to get his/her own belongings out of the car. You should stay in the driver’s seat and control the vehicle as they get out with their backpacks etc. Do not get out of your car.
· Deal with signing papers, conduct folders, making arrangements for pickup, ordering scrip etc. BEFORE you leave for school. Distracted driving or extended stops in line are not appropriate ways to handle correspondence.
· If Grandma or Grandpa are picking up now and then, please make them aware and responsive to our safety procedures too.
· If you must visit the office or the classroom, please park outside the green gates and walk through the EAST PASS GATE (the people gate). Make sure you keep your child(ren) safely with you. Do not send them skipping or running through traffic because you are headed in a different direction.
· Talk to your child(ren) about sitting safely and calmly in the supervised area until they see your vehicle towards the front of the pickup line. No snacking until they are in the car or at home.
· With Day Care in session until @6:00pm, we ask that all parents picking up from ChessMasters, etc. pick up outside the green gates. The instructors will walk the children out to you.
